Holiday Stroll 2023

The Holiday stroll this year was a great success! It was so nice to see so many residents on their porches and joining in with our walk through the village. Santa joined us for our walk and came back to the firehouse for some refreshments and crafts. We look forward to doing this again next year!

Holiday Stroll Through the Village with Santa on Dec. 23

Do you love holiday songs? Come join our holiday stroll through the village of East Schodack. We will begin at St. Stephens church on County Route 7 and follow our decorated truck with our friend Santa at 6 pm. We will stroll down County Route 7, around East Hill Road, and back to St. Stephens church. After we get back to the church, participants are welcomed back to the Firehouse for refreshments. Feel free to bring a snack to share, have some hot chocolate and cookies, and meet some of your community! All are welcome!
On Tuesday, 11/28, at approximately 740 pm, we were dispatched to a possible structure fire, with flames coming from an outdoor light; due to the quick thinking of 9-year-old Mikey, this family will be in their home for Christmas. Mikey alerted his mom, who notified the homeowners, and the fire was extinguished quickly. We commended Mikey for helping save his neighbor’s home.

collection took place from the September 11 Pizza Night to November 28. Over 1047 pairs of pajamas were collected! Thank you so much for everyone who contributed!

Rensselaer County presents check

The East Schodack Fire Company was presented with a $10,000 check from Rensselaer County executive Steve McLaughlin as part of the county’s $630,000 funds that they have built up through the years.  McLaughlin and many of the Rensselaer County Legislators such as Bob Loveridge, Scott Bendett, and Chuck Peter felt that it was vital to “give back” these funds to all Rensselaer County ambulance and fire companies, veterans and youth organizations who have worked tirelessly during the COVID pandemic and struggled with fundraising.  The company was extremely appreciative and plans to use the money to purchase equipment and apparatus to better serve the East Schodack community.

Captain Rich Hunt, Shawn Masters, Assistant chief Jeff Wright, Legislator Chuck Peter and Bob Loveridge, Fire company president Mike Buckbee, Amy Gransfor, Nick Field, Allie Signor, Deb Curtis, Frank Curtis, Legislator Scott Bendett, Town Supervisor Dave Harris, and Tom Freemantle were on hand for Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin’s presentation to Chief Steve Schweigert.

Saying Goodbye to a Beloved Member Doug Farley

Member and Former chief Doug Farley was honored in February for 65 years of continuous active service. Doug joined the fire company in 1955 and has held several positions throughout his long career. He was an inspiration to his firehouse family. Regretfully Doug passed away in August but will be forever missed by his firehouse family.
